Ever since my experiment with felt I’ve been enamored with all you can do with it. How freakishly cute is this little sandwich by Myrtle & Eunice? I can’t really figure out what I’ll do with this once I make it, but that’s beside the point! I can imagine that this furry treat would bring a smile to my face every time I looked at it, and to me, that’s priceless. I’m heading to the fabric store shortly so I can whip up one of these swiss, lettuce and tomato sandwiches. Nom, nom, nom… See more pictures and get the complete felt sandwich recipe here.

Found via: WhipUp.

*Sad update to my Felt Rosette Pillow: Apparently a handmade, time consuming, 100% wool felt pillow is dog for chewtoy.
I get so much joy from reading all of your comments and it gives me an opportunity to discover new blogs each and everyday. I find myself so enthrawred and litterally unable to keep up! It’s so exciting to know that there is so much to be discovered each time I sit down to my computer.

My latest find is the delightful Grate Full Day blog. Lindsey stole my heart with her recent post about Anthropologie’s summer Dip Dyed Windows. As most of you know by now I have a thing for Anthropologie, a crush as it were. Their collective genius is endless and this seasons merchandising is no exception. From the Anthropologie’s Facebook Page:

“ Each is a joyful tribute to summer color—from pineapple gold and purple basil to crustacean red and saltwater teal. Each, too, is a testament to the passion and drive of our visual team—from scouring thrift stores for fabric scraps to dip-dying and drying, it was quite a process.”

This project was inspired by the ever-so talented Elatia. I saw her “sewing a letter” to a friend and was completly blown away. I was so intriqued by the idea that I wanted to try something similar. I decided to send a little love letter to my husband and base it off of white college ruled notebook paper. Since I’ve never sewn type, I kept it simple for this first attempt. Many thanks to Elatia for the constant source of funny and inspiration!

With summer approaching I thought it would be fun the share some details from my sister’s 2006 wedding. My sister Allison and her husband Ryan found an outstanding outdoor location to host their celebration just outside of Bellingham, Washington. This beautiful natural environment surrounded by mountains created the perfect setting for their rustic northwest wedding.

I simply adored all the details that my sister incorporated into their event. She made dozens of pinwheels which were placed throughout the grounds. The tables were decorated with handmade paper bouquets and the table cloths were embellished with buttons! If that weren’t enough, the favors were miniature mason jars filled with homemade strawberry jam. She topped these off with an assortment of fabric squares and custom made ribbon with their names and the wedding date.

Every aspect of their wedding had a personal touch and really made it a joy to to be a part of. Our parents made a full dinner for the 100+ guests. Two of their dear friends provided homemade beer, another grew the flowers and created each of the bouquets for the wedding party. Ryan’s father took the wedding photos, another friend made their delicious cake and I designed the invitations and details.

This was a beautiful wedding that reflected Allison and Ryan’s taste perfectly, I’m so glad I could be a part of their celebration!

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter Holiday! I spent the evening with my family enjoying a spring inspired meal. I forget how nice it is to have a home cooked meal at my parents house. Doesn’t happen often enough, that’s for sure!

Besides bunnies and chocolate I’ve had weddings on the mind lately; partly because I’ve been drooling over my latest Martha Stewart Wedding issue and mostly because I’ve been working on a few wedding pieces for a freelance client. It seemed fitting to start the week off with a wedding related post. I think you guys will find this project very charming and original.

This fabulous idea comes from the the lovely Ellie of Mint who happens to be getting married in less than two weeks! These pew cards will be passed out to guests that require a reserved seat so that they can simply show them to the ushers to make seating a little smoother. Be sure to check out Ellie’s blog for more of her great ideas and inspiration and you can see more pics of these pew cards here. Thanks Ellie for the inspiration and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!!

One of my favorite things about the Easter holiday is all the candy! I have a huge sweet tooth so naturally Easter is right up my alley. This year I decided to try my hand at an old time favorite and make homemade marshmallow peeps!

What You’ll Need:

Corn Syrup, Gelatin, Sugar, Cold Water, Salt, Vanilla Extract, Corn Starch, Powdered Sugar, Food Coloring and Sanding Sugar

Instructions:

1. Begin with a basic marshmallow recipe, this one from Alton Brown works well. At the end of the recipe when you are adding the vanilla extract also add your food coloring. I ended up making three batches, one for each color, needless to say I have a LOT of peeps now. If you don’t need that many, think about sticking with one or two colors.

2. Once you’ve poured the mixture into the prepared pan, smoothed it out with a spatula and dusted it; place plastic wrap over the pan and flatten smooth the surface with a rolling pin. Remove the plastic wrap and let set for at least 4 hours.

3. Once the marshmallows are ready, cut them out with a lightly oiled cookie cutter. I used this set from amazon, but feel free to use whatever you like.

4. To get the sanding sugar to stick, I ended up lightly blotting the tops and bottoms of the marshmallows with a damp paper towel before rolling in the sugar.

5. For the “eyes” I put a dab of corn syrup on the back of a black candy button to get them to stick (found at a local cake store). NOTE: Man hands in the photo belong to my husband, not me.

6. For a sweet little present, line the bottom of a clear gift box with parchment paper, I added a little scalloped edge to finish off the look.

This was a fun afternoon project and even more fun to eat! Enjoy!

I am SO excited to announce that I’ve opened up shop on Etsy over the weekend! I hope to be able to share more templates and other craftables in the future but for now I’ve got just the one project (in 4 colors). I’ve received several requests for my Baby Quiz Scorecards from my friends shower that I designed and hosted, and I thought it would be a good place to start.

These PDFs are editable, so you can fill in your own questions and answers and then print and cut. The best part is that once you’ve downloaded the template it’s yours to keep and use again and again! Below are some pictures from my first listing at the Twig & Thistle Store on Etsy.

Choose from Blue, Pink, Yellow or Green

To see pics from the shower that these were originally designed for check out Baby Shower: Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3. If you have any specific ideas on what you’d like to see next or more of, I’d love to hear from you! Just leave a comment below.

With all the love that’s in the air, it’s fitting that my husband and I celebrated our first anniversary this past weekend. I honestly can’t believe it’s been a year already! We both had so much fun at our wedding and I wish that we could go back and enjoy the day over and over. Thankfully we have our photos and I can look back as often as I like. Please join me on a trip down memory lane…

Inspiration board

To start, I thought I’d share my inspiration board that I created right after our engagement. It’s fun to see how this translated into the actual event. I picked yellow and grey as our wedding colors because I wanted something unusual and not overly feminine. My husband definitely appreciated this and was as equally excited about the color choices. Since our wedding was in February the yellow seemed like a good bright color that could add some warmth. The grey acted as a neutral tone throughout while silver added the little extra shine.

More pictures after the break!

I have more wedding pics to come, along with our entire wedding stationary suite (my favorite part) so stay tuned!
