Some beautiful work by London-based designer, Joe Stephenson. The system was designed to promote and highlight the abundant “flavors” of the Fedrigoni specialty paper showroom. With Gelato as the teaser, guests could enjoy a cool treat while collecting paper samples and getting familiar with the showroom.
I love the simplicity of the work and the playful connection between the gelato flavors and the delicious paper colors. Yumm indeed!

I was so delighted to discover They Draw and Cook recently! It’s a clever site that posts a new illustrated recipe everyday from artists all around the world. The recipes vary in their complexity but if you love art and enjoy to cook, this is a great read for everyday. Cheers!

I never tire of Gemma Correll’s work (and hopefully neither do you since I like to post about it)! Her latest piece of brilliance is a limited run ampersand illustration. Printed by the skilled folks at Blush in London, they’ve done an amazing job with the letterpressing and getting every last detail to show perfectly. See more pics on the Blush Publishing blog and purchase the print directly from Gemma’s Etsy Shop.
Also, just wanted to give a quick shout-out to Kathryn of Snippet & Ink. She launched her new site design on Monday and it’s perfectly simple, elegant and definitely work checking out! So much gorgeousness on her blog, it’s pure joy! I’ve also got some VERY exciting news to share on Monday so be sure to check back. Have a lovely weekend!

Another great poster from the talented Allan Peters! This one was created for a poster show on bikes. Allan and his wife had just found out that they were expecting so the design was inspired by and dedicated to their little one on the way. I think the story behind it is what really makes it all that much more special. *sigh! See more images of the poster and view process shots on Allen’s site here.

I have the biggest design crush on Jessica Hische, a renowned illustrator, designer and typographer. Her influence within the design community is quite astounding and her work continues to inspire me. Inspired by vintage fruit crate type, Jessica has quickly become well known for her use of color and creativity with letterforms. I’m not sure how I missed it but I recently discovered Daily Drop Cap, a site where Jessica graciously provides one initial cap a day for use in blog posts along with instructions. Above are just a few of my faves.
Want to see more of her amazing work and a stunning short video if the artist herself; watch this! It’s incredibly insightful and celebrates her work beautifully. By Semi-Permanent

While not technically a 4th of July project, Micah Max‘s poster for Explosions in the Sky certainly feels festive! Especially clever is the use of Japanese masking tape for the firecrackers. Also in Micah’s own words, the long fused fireworks “…represent the band’s ability to go from quiet, shimmering beauty to bold, loud passages in an instant.” Lovely.

These are seriously some of the coolest posters I’ve seen in awhile. Both conceptually and visually brilliant, designer Allen Peters did an incredible job! They so perfectly capture the best part of country fairs: food on sticks, and preferably fried! I can only imagine the crowd these drew and the number of posters lost to “collectors”. I wish I could get a set of these for my kitchen, they’re just so darn clever!

I’m so excited to share with you Part I of a baby shower I recently designed! My sister Allison and her husband Ryan are expecting a baby boy so I jumped at the chance to do something special for them. I loved the idea of using Matryoshka Dolls as the theme, so for the invitations I illustrated these to resemble the parents and the boy-to-be.
I letterpressed the invites myself and was able to save a little bit of money by using thick blotter paper. I then coordinated them with cute blue craft paper envelopes
and lined them with a custom flower pattern from the invite. For the address I was able to print directly onto the envelopes with my laser printer. Above are some process shots of the printing process in the studio.
The rest of the shower coordinated with the nesting doll theme and the colors from the invitation which I’ll be be sharing more of tomorrow. In the mean time, I’m guest blogging today on PaperCrave and you can see more pics and get full instructions for the easy DIY baby shower banner (seen above). I hope you’ll stop by and say hello to Kristen and I!

I am beyond in love with these charming prints from Mint Parcel. Amy is the artist behind them and was kind enough to send me a link to her site and shop. She does such a great job giving life to her illustrations all while using simple geometric shapes. Cute doesn’t even begin to describe her work, I mean anyone who can make an octopus look huggable has serious talent. Make sure to check out more of her work on her site along with her shop and blog!

Be sure to check in Monday! I’ve got a guest post to share with all of you and some fun baby shower DIYs coming up! Have a great weekend everyone!

Heidi Chisholm of Extra Fancy continues to amaze me with her versatility. Her work is both original and breathtaking. Take this annual report for example. Designed for Investec, an investment company, and created to show how one’s money will grow with their help. Notice the flocked cover along with the delicate use of color within the illustrations. The beautiful embellishments highlight the exquisite qualities of the printed bill and the craft behind it. Also the use of the fold out cover to reveal the companies story is pure perfection! Well done Heidi and thank so much for letting me share!
