DIY Gold Staples in a Pinch!

Tuesday, April 12th, 2011

While working on my latest Save The Dates, I was in desperate need of gold staples but couldn’t find any locally and didn’t have time to order them. I improvised with a gold permanent pen and violá instant gold staples!

While staples come in a plethora of colors now a days, it’s fun to make your own. I imagine that this would work with any permanent marker as well and it’s a good trick when you’re in a bind!

Embroidery Calendar

Friday, April 8th, 2011

It’s a little past calendar season but I happened upon this embroidered one via the Behance Network and was blown away! What a clever idea and equally beautiful in execution.

This one-off design was created by design student Iwona Przybyla from Poland. All her work is quite impressive and I wish that I could read Polish so that I could follow along on her blog. Definitely worth checking out either way, full of fantastic inspiration!

I came across these covered books on Pinterest last week and fell in love! Liz Tamanaha of Paislee Press created these beautifully simple covers and shared a tutorial on her blog. I love how any book can get an elegant makeover with just a few easy steps. See the complete tutorial and get free downloadable labels here.

Just Plain Lucky!

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

Another adorable St. Patrick’s Day project to add to the list! Created by Alexandria Hedin, these Just Plain Lucky Tees are perfect for the whole family! Simple and super adorable and just the right amount of charm! Get the instructions and template from Alexandria’s blog.

Fun little story, Alexandria and I went to high school together here in Seattle and ended up working together at Starbucks in the creative department. We both went on to separate jobs and lost touch but have since reconnected through the blog world. I love the web connections and friends I’ve made over the years and I’m so fortunate to be surrounded but such talented people!

DIY St. Patrick’s Day Treats!

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

Even though I have bright red hair, I’m not the least bit Irish but that doesn’t mean I can’t celebrate St. Patricks Day like I am! This week I’ve got two DIY projects in honor of ol’ St. Pat and this first one is a sweet twist on a pot of gold.

Simply cut rice crispy treats into the shape of gold bars, wrap in parchment paper and gold foil and serve! Don’t worry about cutting them perfectly, once wrapped in the gold foil, they truly look like the real deal! Fun for a party, lunch boxes or even shimmering favors!
