I have to say, Summer was far too short in the Northwest but now that Fall has arrived, I’m thrilled that it’s here! I got an early start on my Halloween costume over the weekend and tonight I’m attending my first ever Halloween craft class.

I’ll be sure to share details soon but in the mean time, I’d love to hear what all of you have planned. Any great costume ideas or special decorations you have in store? I adore the simplicity of these colorful gourds arranged on a mantel and the hang tags are a nice touch.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend ahead and for those of you celebrating the 4th of July, may you have a fun and safe weekend! I don’t have any major plans but I hope to get some R&R and hopefully a little sun if it ever decides to show up here.

Spotted the work of the Geronimo Balloon-Troopers at the Portland Summer School event over the weekend and had to share these images from their photo gallery. I love the colors and combination of shimmering gold with the pale pink and yellows. Pretty, pretty!

For some reason I have the decorating bug lately and I’m currently trying to revamp our home office. I’m really not so good at the decorating thing but I’d like to be! I had fun with the first Get The Look featuring a stunning living room by designer Sarah Richardson. I found it incredibly fun to source items that would have a similar feel but at a fraction of the cost.

In this Get The Look, I was able to find some great pieces (at great prices) that really resemble this casual dining room originally spotted in Casa Magazine via Steph Modo. The item I’m least satisfied with are the candelabras but I’m sure a little hunting at a local thrift shop might be the right place to shop for those. Total cost: $1724.77 Not too bad for a table for eight including table, chairs and art work!

Mrs. Lilien always has the most clever combinations and playful collections when it comes to fashion. She’s a favorite that I visit for style inspiration and a dose of class.

I particularly love her recent post about setting a proper table when entertaining. If it’s one thing I absolutely love, it’s a good ol’ dinner party! But it can be a bit of a challenge to remember the approprite place for each of the flatware, glassware and dinner plates.

I recently discovered the work of Poppies for Grace and not only do I love what they do but the styling for these images is stunning! Alan and Sara are the designers behind the Poppies wedding stationary and they worked together with photographer Armel to capture their work beautifully. Love, love, LOVE! I’m head over heels for these chalk illustrations by Dana Tanamachi.  The fact that they’re done freehand without the use of stencils or projectors just blows my mind!

I spotted this pretty living room on Pinterest and thought it would be fun to try to create a similar look on a budget. Originally created by designer Sarah Richardson for her own home, it’s a stunning space with such a calm and serene feel. I wanted to capture the subtle differences in tone but bring out the pops of pink, white and light blue. I think the stripped footstools really tie the space together but sadly I wasn’t able to find any. The French Stripe Stools from Pottery Barn come close but I think the Raspberry Chevron pillows help. What do you think?!

Somehow I missed this Easter Tablescape by Remodelista with Gwyneth Paltrow but came across it thanks to the Meriment Blog. I’ve always been a big fan of Gwyneth’s sophisticated but laid-back style and this tablescape seems to fit her personality to a T! I just love the combination of pale pinks and blues with white, tan, and black. Photographer Simon Bevan did an outstanding job of capturing this beautiful table top! I wish I could join in the feast!

And P.S. how amazing does Gwyneth look in these photos?! My goodness, so SO pretty!

My husband and I placed an order for new bedroom furniture back in March from West Elm and have watched our delivery date go from 4-6 weeks to five months. We’ve received discounts to compensate for the inconvenience but all we really want is our new furniture and can’t wait for it to arrive!

I’m thrilled to see our room come together but the delay has made us impatient and we’ve even considered making our own. Take a look at this beautiful and insanely creative headboard made from a wood pallette by Stylizimo. With the right bedding and accessories it looks so chic!

While we try to decide if we can wait it out, I’ll be looking into more inventive ideas like this one. And speaking of amazing ideas, be sure to browse around on Stylizimo if you haven’t before, it’s a plethora of talent and inspiration!

My husband sent me a link to this beautiful new flooring called Bolefloor. Bole, which means the trunk of the tree, is a new tongue-and-groove system with curved boards that come from the tree’s natural growth.

I wish we had the means to re-floor our entire house with these! There is something so absolutely stunning in their irregular curves and details. Definitely putting this idea in the inspiration folder for our future dream home!

Titatoni is in German and so are the instructions but it looks fairly simple to follow. Can’t wait to give it try!
