i love jewelry, so it’s hard to pick which piece is my favorite. maybe a pair of earrings i bought in cusco, peru, because they’re gorgeous and they remind me of that trip. or the earrings in bought last year in split, croatia – same reason. or maybe it’s the pair of big gaudy yellow clip-on earrings that i snitched from my grandmother’s jewelry box when i was 6 and thought they were The Most Beautiful Things in the World.

My favorite piece is by far the James Avery charm bracelet that I got at my last shower. It has my new initials on it as the only 3 charms right now. I’m planning on wearing it at the wedding!!!

My mother’s charm bracelet….laden with charms she selected or was given as gifts over decades… a tiny dollar bill folded up in case she needed “mad money”, an ice skate (my favorite sport as a child), calendars with her wedding anniversary marked on one and my birthday on the other, a telephone (not sure of the significance of that one) etc. I love the sound it makes when I wear it. It reminds me of my mother and her delicate elegance.

Although my gorgeous wedding band with subtle celtic knotwork is the obvious answer, another contender is my grandmother’s bracelet. It’s not one I particularly recall her ever wearing. It’s just a bit of “junk” jewelry. As one of dozens of grandchildren (not to mention great-grandchildren), it’s one of very few possessions that made its way to me when she passed away 5 years ago. When I received it, the beads were painted to resemble pearls, and it sported a green patina on the gold-hued metal. In cleaning it up for my wedding, the patina and the pearlescent paint both went away, but the clear glass beads left behind are equally pretty. It felt so-very-right to wear my namesake’s jewelry on my wedding day. I feel a little closer to her every time I wear it. She would have been 100 last week.

my new diamond ring which hubby got me for my 30th. it was to replace the original wedding ring he bought me.

My favorite pearl ring comes from a tiny shop in Florence Italy. I found the shop by way of a branding meeting in Seattle. The woman facilitating was wearing the most fabulous ring. I am sure I didnt hear a thing she said, I was transfixed on her ring. At the end of the meeting, I rushed up to find out where she got it. She reached into her bag and pulled out the most beautiful hand writted wax stamped card with the address of the shop on it. Soon, I was in Italy and wandering the narrow streets looking for a shop the size of a closet. As if part of a club, I asked to see the jewelry that was not displayed. On the small velvet tray I saw my ring. Now, when I wear it, someone always rushes up to ask me where I got my ring.

OOPS! I read the directions wrong! My current favorite piece of jewelry I have is the silver heart locket that my 3 year old daughter picked out for me this Christmas. She told hubby “I want to get mommy a heart for Christmas” and I am in love with the heart she picked out. Best of all there is a picture of my two loves in it – my little Maddie and her most wonderful daddy!

The one I liked the most is the golden bracelet I got at birth. Unfortunuately, I lost it when I was about 20 in our local swimming pool

My favorite pierce of jewelry that I own is an heirloom, vintage English sterling silver charm bracelet. I rarely wear it for fear of losing it (the safety chain was gone before I got it), but it’s spectacular. My favorite charm on it is a tiny, heavy piggy bank with a wee penny hooked on. The penny is engraved “a penny saved is a penny earned.” Love it

My favorite piece of jewelry at the moment: a cheap metal ring with a sort of medallion attached to it: inside it is a small preserved flower. I saw it in a store while shopping for a birthday gift for a friend, I went away and returned half an hour later… I just had to have it! I think it makes my hand look aristocratic : ) :blush:

my favorite piece is a necklace that has four charms on it. One is a small diamond that my father bought for me before our estrangement, the second is a little gold cross from my grandmother, the third is a little round locket that was my mother’s, the fourth is this little arm/fist that my grandfather used to wear.

My favorite piece of jewelry right now is my “St. John’s hook” bracelet that I got on my honeymoon last summer. It’s my busy season for work right now so I wear it everyday so that when things get stressful I can look down and remember how amazing and relaxing it was on our honeymoon! It always puts the smile back on my face. The story behind the design of the bracelet is also my favorite- I can’t remember it all but basically the story is that a poor fisherman fell in love and wanted to give something to his love to display to the world that they were devoted to eachother, so he went into his tackle box and took some fishing wire and a hook, and tied the wire around the hook, which he bent to create a bracelet. He gave one bracelet to his love and wore one himself, with the hook facing in to his heart to show to the world that he is taken! I thought the story was so sweet and perfect as a honeymoon momento

My favourite piece of jewellery is a Tiffany silver key on a very sturdy silver chain. I love the simplicity of it, and my 7.5-month-old daughter loves it too. I wear it when I know we’ll be out and about because she’ll sit on my lap and play with it for quite some time (hence the sturdy chain). It was a thank-you gift from my sister for her baby shower, and my 6-year-old son helped her pick it out. His comment? “Mom, did you know that everyone in Tiffanys wears suits? It’s really fancy!” Indeed.

My favorite piece of jewelry is, without a doubt, the antique double strand of pearls that my mom gave to me! After all the years, she decided to give them to me when I started graduate school. I’ve always loved pearls and this set was so special. Not only did they mark another big transition and accomplishment but the fact that she waited to give them to me at a time when I could truly appreciate them was so meaningful!

My favorite piece of jewelry is an antique gold Russian cross pendant given to me by my brother a few Christmases ago. Back in high school, he was working a landscaping job and found a different cross pendant on the ground… an amazing silver cross with English on the front and Braille on the back. He gave it to me and a couple years later we were in San Francisco together when a homeless man we were talking with told me how much he admired my necklace. My brother whispered to me and asked if I’d be willing to let it go… I felt really reluctant but had no reason to say no. Fast forward 8 years, I don’t remember if we’d ever talked about it but I think my brother knew I had been a sad to let it go. I opened my Christmas gift from him and his wife and it was this beautiful antique cross to replace the one I gave away! Not only is the cross beautiful, but it’s even more special knowing it was such an unexpected and extremely thoughtful gift.

My favorite jewelry that I own is my wedding jewelry. I am marrying my best friend in October, but I have had this jewelry since I was about 18. I found it at a local gallery when I was 15, and told my mom it was what I wanted to wear when I got married. I would go back and look at it as often as I could, and on Christmas day when I was 18, my mom surprised me with the necklace and matching earrings. It was almost 4 years later when I met the man I would be marrying. The jewelry is matte green metal leaves with tiny fresh water pearls peppered throughout. Simple, but unique…hopefully just like our wedding will be. I am so looking forward to being able to wear it on a regular basis after the wedding!

My favorite piece of jewelry is my silver watch. It is the watch band that I love as I have had to replace the watch itself at least once, but have been wearing it for about 10 years.

Perhaps cliche, but it is my engagement ring. My partner and I both wear engagement rings. He is an astrophysicist building a telescope and I work in a church full time with kids and youth. The “joke” is that we both talk about the heavens, just in different ways.
We are not very traditional in many senses, so we wanted my ring especially to reflect that. The ring isn’t especially expensive (it was actually less expensive than his) and is fairly small. It is a band of small diamonds with an open silver band crossing above and below, marked with a small diamond at the ends. We chose it because it looked almost like a galaxy resting on my finger.
(And to match, his ring is made of titanium — the same material as the Space Shuttle.)

My favourite piece of jewelery other than my engagement and wedding rings, is a necklace from my grandmother. It’s a silver chain with a dutch pendant that she received from her Father when he went to war. It’s very old and I never wear it anymore, but it’s hung in a shadow box along with other old items from her. I absolutely LOVE it and knowing the history behind it makes it the most special, favourite piece of jewelery I own.

My favorite piece of jewelry is a ring that my Grandmother found during her travels to Thailand. Its a wrap around ring, with two hand painted dancers on top. As a dancer – my Grandmother felt it represented me. I owe so much to her and I miss her dearly. Without her, I would not have gone to Africa to help educate teens about AIDS. Without her I would not have met my fiance. Without her, I would not have the confidence to believe in my dreams and to follow them.

My favorite piece of jewelry is the necklace I never take off. It’s a thin chain with a small round diamond. My mom gave a diamond tie clip to my grandfather when she was in college. When my grandfather died, my grandmother had it made into a ring. My grandmother passed away almost two years ago and when she did, my mom surprised me and had that ring made into a necklace for me. It will forever be special and one day I will pass it on as well.

My sacred “kantha mala” (literally neck garland) from India. A dear friend of mine had them made especially for me and they were offered to a sacred image of Krishna before she sent them (via another friend who I had not seen in years–vehicle for a happy reunion!). My 13-month -ld son has ripped them off of me many times, so this necklace has been repaired over and over again; I may have to go back to India to get a new one made eventually at the rate he is going!!

I wear my late grandmother’s art deco cocktail ring everyday on the middle finger of my right hand. I’ve worn it for years and it’s so funny how the big statement ring is so popular now! I guess it’s a good thing that I love the ring so much and it goes with anything because…it literally won’t come off! It’s been on my hand constantly for the last 4 years!

my fav piece was recently purchased from etsy – it’s a simple silver chain with the state of oregon hanging from it. the seller typically adds hearts and gems and such to decorate her pieces, but i wanted the simplest of simple. i couldn’t be happier with it.

My favorite piece of jewelry is the diamond ring that I bought for myself a few years ago. I never really liked diamonds and then suddenly I became obsessed over them and wanted a ring badly. So…I took the plunge and bought one. It’s a symbol for me of a new postmenopausal life — I could never have anticipated the changes (no pun intended) that come with menopause, most of them positive. I feel like a new person.

My favorite piece of jewelry is a brooch handed down to me from my grandmother. She loved costume jewelry brooches and had a ton of them. My fav is a lovely conical one that had every shade of blue; it always makes me think of her. It is so treasured now that she is no longer with me on earth.

Hmm..there’s two I love and that I never take off – a silver bracelet that my dad gave me on my 10th birthday that I have never taken off (well, unless I’m at the airport or something..) and my engagement ring! It was my great-grandmothers given to her by my great-grandfather and came from his jewelry store, fixed up by my boyfriend (husband to be i suppose!) and given to me just a couple days ago!

It sounds very unoriginal to name an engagement ring as a favorite but I’m not above being unoriginal b/c it truly is my favorite. It is my favorite piece because my husband had it made from my Grandmother’s wedding ring. Sadly, her ring was hideous. After my grandfather passed away she had it made into a “dinner ring,” as she called it. It was the early 80s and she went a little crazy with the gold and tiny marquise diamonds around the side to try and make it look like a leaf. My husband literally laughed out loud when he saw it for the first time but really wanted my ring to have a piece of my grandmother. So he worked hard to find people that would cut it and shape it and make it beautiful! I love it and love thinking of my grandmother when I see it everyday.

With the exception of my wedding and engagement rings, my favorite piece of jewelry is a sliver spoon ring made from my great-grandmother’s baby spoon. It’s not very valuable monetarily, but I would not trade it for anything.

Years before I was born, my grandmother went to Alaska to serve on an Army base near a small town. When she came back home, she brought with her a pendant made from a gold nugget. She wore it for years. When her daughter got married, she gave it to her. When my father married my mother, the pendant was given to my mother. When I got married in September, my grandmother and mother gave it to me. I look forward to giving it to my daughter when she gets married. It is unrefined, but worn. Some people would call it ugly. But to me, it is the most beautiful thing I’ll ever own.

My dad gave me my first pair of diamond anything- simple stud earrings- when I graduated from high school. I never take them out. And my mom gave me a diamond solitaire necklace when I graduated from college. These pieces are my everyday elegance.

My favorite necklace is this giant pendant that I bought at a market in Paris — it’s super huge and was super cheap, but I love it. It makes an outfit and when I’m not wearing it, I have it in a frame on my wall (yes, yes… that’s strange — but it’s a beautiful piece!) I actually forgot it on the Subway one day, it had slipped off when I was taking off my scarf. I had no idea until I got home — I was heartbroken! 2 weeks later a man approached me (rather handsome) and said “I have your necklace!” and he pulled it out of his pocket. He had seen it on me before and it had caught his eye. He told me that he had it in his pocket for 2 weeks and he had been looking for me on the subway. I wish this this story ended with “we fell in love, now we’re married” but that kind of stuff only happening in awful Jennifer Lopez movies. He told me that he was going to look for me for another week and if he couldn’t find me, he’d give it to his wife. I thought it was hilarious, and wonderful that he kept it and gave it back. Here’s to a little faith in humanity!!

My newest favorite is a necklace I picked up at the Brooklyn Flea Market. It is a group of vinatge jewelry (pendants, old earrings, etc) all attached together with a leather cord. It’s not huge, which I love, but big enough to be a statement. And it goes with everything! Love

My number one favorite piece of jewelry is a huge turquoise and silver necklace that my Grandma gave me before she died. She got it in the 60′s and its still in great shape! My husband also got me a turquoise ring to go with it and I wear it everyday!

My favorite piece is a simple charm necklace. The charm is a lock with wings attached and cutouts in the back. It’s small but very unique. I received it as a present and have loved it ever since!

I think my favorite piece of jewelry is a necklace my mother gave me forever ago. It is faint sky blue freshwater pearls on a gorgeous woven copper colored string. Little drops of sky floating around my collar bone, especially in summer with a bit of tan. It is by far the most perfectly personal piece of jewelry anyone has ever given me. I wore it on my wedding day, and constantly back then. The clasp broke and it lived in my jewelry box for a while. I just found it again in a box I was about to give away and its fixed. I got shivers. It still reminds me of summer days. I love it, one of the few things I have left from my mom.

I love the vintage tiffany ring that was my grandmothers. It has a vine pattern and cant be resized so I felt like cinderella when it didn’t fit any of the other girls in my family… but it fit me! March 2 is my birthday so it would be a perfect day to win a giveaway! Thanks!

My favourite piece of jewellery is a small silver shackle that my parents gave me.
My dad built a boat and named it after me when i was born and this shackle was from the boat.
They had it put on a bracelet for me a few years ago, and now it is on a necklace that I wear everyday. I feel naked and lost without it.

I would have to say my “promise ring” that my fiance gave me years ago, before he proposed. Although I really can’t stand the term “promise ring”!
It’s a pearl with a diamond on each side in a kind of twisty platinum band. It means just as much to me as my engagement ring and it is so different and beautiful.

My fiance gave me a steampunk necklace that he discovered on Etsy (so proud of him!) that is the coolest – it is a watch mechanisim mounted on a flat brass scarab beetle backing, with a brass chain. It is so unique, and I always get comments on it when I wear it!

my favorite piece of jewelry is the necklace i wear daily. my mother gave it to my a few christmas’ ago and i haven’t taken it off since. its a little tiny silver umbrella on an 18 inch silver chain. its extremely dainty, simple, and unique.. sort of like me. the length of the chain is ideal. because the umbrella ends up sitting in the little indent right between my chest and my neck, and my left and right collar bone. its perfect. my mother told me she loved the umbrella because it would remind me that while it may be raining now, it can’t rain forever. coming from Oregon, that is especially true. i can layer it with other necklaces, but it never comes off. it makes me feel as if i’ll always have her with me, no matter where i go.

My favorite piece of jewelry is currently a pair of earrings my mom gave me for christmas. I had been eyeing them in the jewelry store, and had even put them on layaway, but when I re-evaluated finances I had to give them up. She bought them secretly and gave them to me for the holidays – square citrine studs with little diamond dots above them.
I also really love a necklace I got for my birthday, from Etsy. It is an arched branch with a crystal acorn and a little verdegris leaf. Gorgeous.

My favorite piece of jewelry has to be a necklace that my boyfriend gave me the five years ago when we started dating. It’s a tear drop shaped emerald that was made from the ash of Mount St. Helen’s, and at the time meant a lot because I loved Seattle but had to live in NJ. It was sort of a way of keeping both him and the city close to my heart. Now, I just love it because of sentimental value, and the stone is just so pretty!

A simple gold diamond necklace my parents gave me when I turned 21. It goes with everything! I can wear it running or out on a date with my husband. I do have to say my wonderful husband has given me a necklace with the birth of our three daughters. These will be passed down to them when they have their first children. I, too, love my wedding ring most, but of the pieces of jewelry that I don’t “have” to wear everyday, the silver spoon ring my mother gave me is my favorite. It’s vintage, not too girly, not too hippy-ish, and seems to match my style more on most days than any other piece of jewelry I own. It’s at an opposite end of the spectrum from my wedding ring (which speaks to me about love and commitment) and reflects my artsy, vintage-loving, adventurous self.

Not only for its loveliness and meaning, but for the fact that my husband picked it out without my help, and he got it exactly right. My fave piece of jewelry at the moment is actually a gift from this Christmas. My husband gave me a gift certificate to Vintage Pearl and I ordered the layered disc necklace with the pearl. The inside disc has my husband and children’s names. The outside disc has a quote from one of my fave songs by the weepies. It says “you turned me into somebody loved”. My husband and children have truly transformed me into a person who is loved and gives love completely!!

My current favorite piece of jewelery is a necklace that my husband brought back to me from a recent trip to South Africa. (He’s an astronomer and he was there for a conference) It’s a long necklace with small glass beads interspersed with large wooden flat oval beads painted in bright orange and turquoises. It’s really unique and not something I would normally choose, but it goes well with almost all of my clothes and it’s so special. I love that my khaki and brown t-shirt guy would bring me something so lovely.

My favorite piece of jewelry is a tiny, tiny diamond set in yellow gold that was my great-grandmother’s. My mother wore it as her engagement ring for years and years, and I’m sure that’s why I had my heart set on a solitaire in yellow gold when my time to get engaged came. Now my mother has a new ring, and she gave me the heirloom to wear on my right hand on my wedding day. I still wear it often, because it’s lovely and even more important, because of what it represents…family and enduring love!
Another favorite is my sterling silver charm bracelet that was my mother’s when she was growing up. I still add charms and would love to add a piece from The Vintage Pearl. I enjoyed looking at all the pieces on The Vintage Pearl, particularly the keepsakes.

My great aunt’s jade and diamond ring. I was never a fan of jade, but this ring is unusual, ginormous and apparently worth a fortune. Best of all, jade is supposed to be lucky – my mother gave it to me at a particularly rough time, and promised me that things would turn up if I wore the ring. I was surprised at our wedding with the gift of my grandmother’s ring. It’s one-of-a-kind and she had it made from three rings that belonged to her parents – it was passed down to my mom when my grandmother died during my senior year of high school. My mom wanted to give it to my husband so he could propose with it but was just too sentimental. By the time we got married, she was ready for me to have it and my husband decided to surprise me during the ring-exchange at our wedding ceremony.

My favorite piece of jewelry is my grandmother’s engagement ring with the inscription from my grandfather still on the inside of the band. He chased her for 12 years before she married him in June of 1945, just after he returned from the South Pacific. My other favorite piece of jewelery is a typewriter key bracelet that I found at an antique store. It scratches the heck out of my wrist, but it’s just too perfect for my personality to give up!

I think my favorite piece of jewelry is, hands down, the first real piece of jewelry I received from my mom when I turned thirteen–it’s a white gold ring, with a blue opal center and little blue topaz stones surrounding it. It marked the beginning of my teenage years, and now that I’m in my twenties, is still something I wear on a regular basis!

My favorite jewlery right are the rings my mom wore everyday – her basic thick (70′s bride) gold band, and two thin bands that were her grandparents that have been soildered together. My mom passed away in October and since then I have worn her wedding bands in place of my own. I have her hands, so looking down and seeing her rings always catches my breath and reminds me to take each day as it comes.

Its my Tiffany bean necklace. I lived in Chicago while going to college and it makes me think of the big bean in Millennium Park. Living in Chicago was life changing and helped create who I am and see who I wanted to become. Chicago gave me (a girl from central CA) the opportunity to cross items off my life list: run a marathon, graduate from college, see a famous person, wear a two piece in public, jump in a public fountain, milk a cow, go to a blues club, eat caviar, and see a Cubs game at Wrigley Field. Chicago means so much to me and so my little bean necklace is my most favorite piece of jewelry.

I don’t even know what it’s truely called, but my family calls it a wish bracelet. It’s just this beautiful yet simple little beaded bracelet with a box type charm. The box has a tiny little lid/clasp on it and inside is a rolled up piece of paper. It belonged to my great grandmother, who gave it to my grandmother, who gave it to my mother, who gave it to me…each time they would pass it down, they would add another box charm (i love it because they’re all different..specially picked by the woman who passed it down). On the rolled up piece of paper in the charm is a written wish for the recipient from the woman before. So one box has a wish from my great-grandmother to my grandmother..from her to my mother, from my mother to me. Mine says “Continue to see the beauty in the world and you shall see it in yourself”. It’s nice having that to read when I’m down, along with the other wishes.

My favorite piece would have to be a ring given to me by my Nana. She got it when she was a teenager. Her aunt had gone to Italy and brought back a ring. It has an intaglio design: a soldier emprinted on it. I love it. It is two-toned and unlike anything I have seen thus far. I will always treasure it knowing it was hers in her youth.

I never spend money on jewelry. I either make a piece, or keep my budget at $5. The only “real” pieces of jewelry I own are my wedding and engagement rings and they are definitely my favorite. When I was 16 my mother gave me a beautiful necklace that was made from the diamonds in her engagement ring. My parents divorced when I was young, so the ring had been sitting in a jewelry box for quite a few years. My mother tearfully told me that although her marriage to my father didn’t work out, that this necklace was to symbolize the love that is in the world. I cannot wait to wear that necklace when I walk down the aisle.
Also, I’m very excited about this giveaway as I plan to buy my nephew one of the keepsake baby spoons the vintage pearl sells. I’ll have to wait til he’s born on Tuesday to find out what his name will be so I can have it stamped onto the handle.

I spotted this ring, but it was just far beyond my birthday budget (and out of my anytime budget, to be honest). But I fell in love. And every month or so, I’d swing by just to see the ring. one of my favorite pieces of jewelry i wear daily is my grandfather’s wedding band. when he passed away in the summer of ’08, my grandmother asked me what i wanted and i said, “a piece of jewelry from him…” he always wore chains so i assumed she would give me one of those but my mom showed up with his wedding ring instead.
it is a gold band with 3 little diamonds in it with a very strange design on it–i would say they look a little like branches that criss cross. it fits perfectly on my middle finger so i barely ever take it off and i am so careful with it. my grandmother always says that when she passes away, my sister will get the matching band (hers) so it will always stay with us.

I wish I could say it is my wedding ring but I lost it in a strange event that is a long story including a Crackhead, pimp, hooker and john doe in the backstreets of Tacoma WA! Although I miss it, I’m glad I can laugh about it! I lieu of that, a pin that belonged to my grandmother who died before I was born, given to me by my grandad who has since died as well. It is a black donkey with a basket of flowers! Quirky, hilarious but mine and I love it!

My favorite piece of jewelry is my Grandmother’s Buddha necklace, a gift to her from my Granddad. A tiny delicate gold Buddha hangs from a gold chain. Very simple but so symbolic. My rough exterior Grandfather, who wasn’t what you would call spiritual or religious in any way, had a connection to these chubby little symbols of love and happiness. When I wear this necklace it reminds me that there is a desire for peace in all of us, even if we appear to be a little rough around the edges.

Without a doubt my favorite piece of jewelry was given to me this past Christmas by my wonderful mother in law. It is charm that was part of a bracelet that was originally given by her to her mother (my husbands grandmother) the charm has my husbands name with his birthdate. The story that goes along with it is too long to reprint here but let’s just say it brought tears to all of our eyes on Christmas morning. I love wearing it, holding it in my hands knowing all the love that is represented in this piece. I would love to have charms for each of my children to pass on someday.

I have a lot of jewelery because I think that jewelery is what ‘makes or breaks’ an outfit. My current favorites: A bangle from Forever 21. It looks like it’s hand painted with pretty little flowers and a gold trim, I try to wear it with everything!
Also, I found this gorgeous necklace at a vintage jewelery fair. It’s a tarnished gold amulet with a topaz stone set in the middle. It’s on a long chain and it’s absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

my favorite piece of jewelry is a cheap silver chain with charms from important places/people in my life. it has a whale charm because that is my favorite animal, a mickey mouse head silhouette from my honeymoon, an “m” for melissa, a dog tag with a hand in the shape of “i love you” in sign language, because my husband and I do that sign to each other several times a day, and the chinese symbol for “faith”.

my favorite piece of jewelry is my sapphire and diamond band. my mom had always told me she was going to buy me a sapphire ring for my 16th birthday (my birthstone), but she passed away before then. when my 16th bday rolled around, my older sister took me to buy it “from my mom,” which makes it double special. i recently lost my wedding band, and have been wearing it as a replacement wedding band so it has many meanings now.

my favorite has got to be this super plain sterling silver ring on my right finger. it’s nothing fancy or expensive, in fact it cost only about $7, i think. but it was given by my childhood best friend way back when we were in the 5th grade one sunny valentine’s day while sitting at the school bench after our lunch break. along with the ring (which he also has – an identical one), my best friend promised that he’ll always be there for me, and that no matter where life brings him (his father is a government employee who gets assigned to different countries), he will always come looking for me and will come back for me some day. i never took the ring off since the day he gave it to me. fast forward to present, i still have the ring on my finger, not just a sign of friendship with my childhood best friend, but a symbol of love, loyalty, and lasting commitment from my then-best friend-now-husband. yes, we got married, and we didn’t change the ring at all. we’ve been together for 25 years now, living blissfully and blessed with a beautiful son.:)

Well, besides my wedding ring which is very special, I would say that the gold band with the Bible verse,”I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine” (in Hebrew) is my favorite piece of jewelry and another one I rarely remove. It means so much because it was purchased after a very difficult season in our marriage several years ago–it is a constant reminder of God’s great love and forgiveness. My husband wears a matching one.

I would have to say that my favorite piece of jewelry is a locket that my mom surprised me with last Christmas. It was her mom’s and I had never seen it before. My grandfather was stationed in Puerto Rico during WWII and bought this gold locket for my grandmother while down there. The front of the locket has a Puerto Rican beach scene and hut carved in it and on the back Lib is in quotations. My grandmother’s name was Mary Elizabeth, but she went by Lib…Hence why I’m Libby. There is a picture of my grandfather in uniform on the inside. I never met either of my mom’s parents (they both died before I was born) so I value this locket as one of my greatest treasures.

Without a second thought my favorite piece of jewelry is a silver and gold pendant my husband had made for me from a tiny glass button containing a daisy which I found on Sand Point on Lake Pepin (the widest point of the Mississippi)last July.
I’m an avid beach comber and river glass collector as I’ve found it to be good therapy. Living on the river you tend to take the river and all of its beauty for granted forgetting all of the neat little places & the greatness the river is.
The glass button which I found was so special because it is a clear perfectly round button about the size of a pen cap in diameter with a single daisy embossed on it. Something so easy to have been passed up on our trek that day.
What made it even more special was that my husband kept track of where I put the little button and took it across the lake to a wonderful shop in Pepin, Wisconsin to work with a local gold smith to create a silver daisy bendant with a gold bezel setting that held my little glass button. So much thought was put into the pendant, creating it to be versatile in my collection, allowing me to wear it with a snake or omega chain, or even a silk ribbon.
The pendant reminds me to never over look the little things in life, and of my husbands love for me.

My favorite piece of jewelry was just given to me on the most recent Valentines Day. My fiance bought me a Tiffany necklack with two hearts (the back one says i love you over and over and the front heart says let me count the ways) Its really special because I had seen is months and months ago and loved it and then when i went to show him they didn’t have it anymore
BUT he is AMAZING and called every Tiffany’s in Texas and got the VERY last one. Have I mentioned he is AMAZING and i love love love love him so much!

It’s a beautiful Art Deco ring that he bought in 1929 and to let you know how small his hometown was it was actually announced in the local newspaper, “Bud doesn’t seem to be worried about the stock market crash since he was seen buying a diamond ring yesterday.” Whenever I wear it I think of my Grandpa and it makes me smile.

My favorite piece of jewelry is a simple necklace my Dad gave me on Valentine’s Day a few years back. I was pregnant with my daughter. My husband and I were preparing for a big move/new job on the West coast. He had already went out there a bit earlier. I was staying with my parents for a few weeks until he could find a place for us to live. Even though I didn’t have my husband on Valentine’s Day, my Dad came through as my stand-in.
It was totally unexpected and I will cherish that necklace always!

They were down in Mexico and knew that I was looking for a chunky silver band so they looked high & low for something that didn’t have a design and low and behold they found it on their last day!!! Whenever I wear it I feel like no matter where I am in the world I have a little piece of them with me!!! Once I lost it when I was trying to push my friend out of the snow in Vancouver and couldn’t find it that night and went back the next day and no luck and amazingly after 2 weeks went back and there it was waiting for me!!! My mother’s wedding ring. She lost it while baling brush in our backyard when I was just a little thing, she was despondent and I remember helping her search for it futilely. 30 years later, my mother had passed away from Alzheimer’s and my siblings and I were readying my childhood home for sale. While trimming the grass to get ready for a showing, my sister found the ring. 30 years later. Shiny and nestled not deep in the grass. Makes you believe in angels.

My favorite piece is a vintage locket ring my dad gave me on my 16th birthday. It was his sister’s before she passed away. Inside he put a picture of my church’s temple where I plan to be married (when the day comes) and a another picture of a question mark. It fits perfectly on my ring finger and he told me that it’s to remind me that I’m his little girl and to stay true until i get married and when I do, I can put my husband’s face in place of the question mark. I love that ring and wear it every day.

i love all things that bring me nearer to others. one of my most treasured pieces is from my husband. he picked a necklace made out of jade years before he met me in new zealand. the symbol carved out of the stone is two hearts knit together as one. once while dating, he told me that the woman of his heart would wear a necklace such as this. i never guessed at the time that woman would be me!

My engagement/wedding ring. Not only is it the most beautiful thing i own it is also priceless as it has been in our family for 5 generations. What really makes it priceless is that one of those generations was my Great-Aunt, she was also my godmother. She had no daughters so she passed it to my mother who kept it hidden away till a nice boy came along and asked for my hand in marriage. It’s so nice to have with so much meaning (though it’s scary too, to think I might lose it…knock on wood) that belonged to one of the most amazing women I have ever known.

My favorite piece of jewelry is a custom necklace that my husband designed and made made for me while we were dating. On one of our first dates, we went to Jade Cove on the Central CA Coast and scoured the rocks for the Jade that naturally washes ashore there. We found lots of pretty rocks and, after some locals gave us some advice, some actual pieces of Jade. He took the pieces to a local jeweler and had one of the larger ones set into a necklace. It was the most romantic gift I had ever been given. I was floored by the thoughtfulness of it. No wonder I married him! =)

When my Mom passed away, she gave me her wedding ring.
My Mom and Dad first married when they were extremely poor and lived in a garage they rented. As they climbed up the social ladder, my Dad would buy each diamond for my Mom’s ring to celebrate every success.
During tough times, my Mom wanted to ensure that us four kids didn’t feel it. She turned to the little income she had, and when that didn’t cut it, she resorted to selling each diamond kernel to pay the bills. So when I inherited it, the diamonds were replaced with cubic zirconium, because she knew it would break my Dad’s heart to think his earnings weren’t cutting it and she didn’t want us to grow up without uniforms for school each year. The ring represents her love for my Dad and us.

I have two favorites, both from my grandmothers. My favorite pearls were from my mom’s mom. They are not expensive, but beautiful. Even though she died 20 years ago, (a few months before our wedding) I feel her close every time I wear them. My paternal grandma gave me a lavaliere my grandfather gave her on their wedding day. When I wear it, I think of what that day was like for my grandparents and how much love is in that piece of jewelry.

The pendant has a little snail on it. I saw it on her website and oohed and aahed over it, not knowing it was already in the mail for me.

My husband gave me a bracelet with 6 charms on it for my birthday this year. On each charm is the name of each of our grandchildren and their birthdate. When my parents were dating, they went to visit an eco-community in Wales, and my Dad bought my Mum a simple, hexangonal silver ring from the silversmiths working there. My favorite piece of jewelry is the band my husband bought me for our first anniversary. He gave me the most amazing ring for our wedding, but it began to be impractical to wear every day. So, I save it for special occasions and turned to wearing the band. It’s simple and perfect…and I haven’t been able to wear it for a couple of years ever since I got pregnant, had the sweetest little baby EVER, and haven’t been able to get it on my finger since. I love jewelry. My gramps is a jeweler so I have lots of great pieces I hold dear b/c they’re from him. My favorite, by a landslide, is my charm bracelet he gave me. Every year since I was one, my grandpa would give me a number charm for my age. So for one I got a one, two a two and so on. It hasn’t been added to in years (since I was 23 to be precise) but the tradition continues as he gives my daughters, his great-granddaughteres, a charme each year on their birthdays. There’s nothing like the sound of that charm bracelet on my wrist. <3 it =)

Favorite piece is a long cord with a rock and fish on it that a friend picked up while traveling in Israel. She got it from a local artisan on the Sea of Galilee. It is extra special because of where it is from and because the friend thought of me and brought it back all that way.

When a dear friend and I were both pregnant for our first child she gave me a beautiful fresh water pearl necklace with a tiny silver dot inlay to represent mother and baby. It is so simple and lovely and I cherish it and all the memories of our growing bellies and now our growing children. I hope to pass it to my daughter someday!

My favorite piece is a necklace I found in my grandmother’s jewelry box after she passed away. It’s very vintage: Just a few floral glass beads on a long gold cord. It isn’t the sort of thing that anyone else in the family even looked twice at. It wasn’t like the “good stuff” that had to divided up. But my grandmother was very fashion forward and it is special to me so I started wearing it. And what do you know, Everyone loves it. I get so many compliments!

My favorite piece of jewelery is one that I’ve just recently misplaced. I’d like to think it was my favorite beforehand, and its not just it’s absence that glorifies this piece in my mind. It is a tiny, gold sliver of a thumb ring that I’ve been wearing for the past three years. I rarely take it off. I found it in an small boutique in San Francisco (not that it’s origin makes any sort of difference). I purchased it for myself because I WANTED it. It was one of those moments where I just had to have it. I couldn’t have left that shop without it on my thumb. It isn’t one of those pieces of jewelery that people notice very often; it’s just that slight. But when someone does make note of it, I know they are really, really looking at me.

My favorite piece of jewelry is a necklace that was my grandmother’s. It is a old gold locket that has three sections for 3 pictures. I found it after she died and we were cleaning out her things. She had tons of costume jewelry necklaces to go through. When I got to this one I picked it up and opened up all 3 doors and each were empty until I got to the third door where there was only a picture of me!
Now she had 8 grandchildren so this made me feel extremely special. And now I wear it, especially on days when I’m not feeling so good about myself. It makes me feel so very special, it’s my power necklace.

It’s nothing special, it’s just a simple necklace that my husband got me for Christmas. What makes it mean so much is that I had pointed it out to him over half a year ago, kind of nonchalantly. Being someone who rarely remembers what he ate for lunch, I assumed he forgot about it. When I unwrapped it on Christmas, I could’ve cried.

I am very tactile but also very sentimental. Everyday I wear a silver band that has raised braille letters. Only I and the person who owns the same ring know what it says, and I love to run my thumb over the bumps during the day, for comfort or a reminder of the other’s love.

My favorite piece of jewelry is the single pearl I wear on an earring – I found the pearl hidden in the crack of a display case of giant insects in a tiny museum while my fiancee (though he was just boyfriend back then) and I were hiking in Malaysian Borneo. We had been dirty and gross for so long, but surrounded by the natural beauty of the rainforest, and finding this one pearl was a wonderful extension of that. Plus my fiancee prides himself on being able to find small things (he says it’s his mundane superpower), so he was happy to help me extract the pearl from the crack with his pocketknife.

I can still remember the exact moment of where I was out when my Mom and Donna (my step-mom) gave me my college graduation present.
The present was my Mom’s wedding ring from my Dad she wore while they were married. My Mom and Donna had the stone re-set in a silver band for my college graduation present! I remember the feeling I had and now every time I look at the ring I think of both of my families. =)

My favorite piece of jewelry is without a doubt my engagement ring. It is a old mine cut diamond ring from the 1920s. It was given to my grandfather in the 1950s as payment for his work (he was a banker). The widow who gave it to him said it was fair payment for taking such good care of her and her finances once her husband passed. My grandfather gave the ring to my grandmother who never had an engagement ring because they were married during the Great Depression. I have always loved the ring and would ask her to let me try it on as a little girl. She passed away in early 2007 and I never had the courage to ask my mother what happened to the ring. I met my fiance in late 2007. When we were ready to be engaged he would ask me what kind of ring I would like. I always said I wanted my grandmother’s ring, but I didn’t know where it was. When he promosed in June 2009 he gave me my grandmother’s ring! My mother had saved it for me! It will always be my favorite piece of jewelry because of its history, beauty, and family meaning.

My favorite piece of jewelry is a pair of earrings that belonged to my mom who passed away a few years ago. They are little cameos, ivory and coral in color. They aren’t expensive, probably came from a discount store in the 50s or 60s, but she loved them, and they mean the world to me because I think of her each time I touch them.

In high school, my then boyfriend gave me a plain sterling silver band with an inscription and a note. The inscription reads “Don’t Forget”. The note was simple and sweet–a list of things he never wanted me to forget, whether we remained a couple or not. I’ve lost the note, but haven’t forgotten the list: “don’t forget– you’re absolutely beautiful, you always deserve and should demand respect, that I (meaning my boyfriend) will always there when you need me, and that you’re a daughter of God.” The ring has become battered and scratched over the years. But I haven’t lost it, nor forgotten the list it represents. I now wear it with my wedding ring, given to me by the very same boy, years ago. I can’t imagine ever being without it.

My mom ended up in the hospital this past Thanksgiving due to advanced liver failure. Having had a difficult and partially estranged relationship with her the better part of my childhood and adult life, I flew home to be with her right before Christmas, not knowing what to expect. Her thoughts weren’t always cohesive and she has very little to give in terms of possessions, but a visiting nurse had given her a stack of cheap clear plastic bracelets, filled with water and glitter. One afternoon as I was sitting by her bed, she reached over to the stack of bangles and drew one out to hand to me. It was clear and pink and cheap and tacky, but the black lettering on it was clear-”best friends”.
My mom didn’t have much to give, but doing the best with what she had, she gave me hope for a relationship during whatever time she had left.
I wear that cheap plastic bracelet everyday-the black lettering has worn off, but the meaning behind the gesture hasn’t.

I love fabulously different jewelry that makes a statement, but the one piece I cherish the most is the teeniest, most “blah” piece I own. My grandmother gave me this tiny silver cross with a diamond in the middle of it a few months before she passed away. My favorite piece is a simple necklace my mother gave me when I graduated from high school, the same necklace my mother had been given when she graduated from high school. It is a tiny carved ivory rose on a short silver chain, presented to me in its original avocado green and gold covered case.
I love the simplicity of the necklace, its classic design, the way the charm hits in the hollow between my collarbones. But more than that, I love imagining the look on my mother’s face when she flipped open the case for the first time. I picture her mother helping her fasten the tricky clasp in back and my mom, 18 and hopeful, fussing with her long hair–the bouncing curls the result of sleeping with grape-juice can rollers.

My favorite piece of jewelery would have to be a golden locket that my grandmother gave me when I was about 8 years old. A jeweler had given it to her in a bundle of necklaces that were all tangled together, and we spent an afternoon untangling. It was perfect for me because it has a “M” on the front. Inside, I’ve placed a picture of me, my sister, and 2 friends when we were little. We’re all dressed up like our American Girl dolls (holding them of course). The whole thing just reminds me of those days. The locket is on a long chain, and I wear it most every time I go out!

I know how tight money was them, he had to save for months to buy the materials. It also happens to be the first piece of precious metal jewelry I ever owned. Since then he’s given me other beutiful pieces but that ring has always remained my sentimental favorite.

My most favorite pieces of jewelry are centimental. The first is a REALLY cheap necklace my daughter gave me from the Santa Store House from school. It broke after the first few wearinbgs but it is something I will treasure. My daugter has a serious illness that was diagnosed four years ago. She is still with us. It reminds me of her GREAT faith and positive attitude and that she is a rock.
The other is a necklace that my little sister gave me. She is one of the most selfless people I know.

My absolute favourite pieces of jewelry are my pearl earrings my husband gave me. He, for the only time I can remember, shopped in advance of a holiday and hid them in a secret spot in the basement. We had an argument one day and I asked him to leave and give me space for a an hour or so. When I get angry I clean- and I usually pick some obscure area that I haven’t touched for a while like a utensil drawer or linen closet but this time I went straight to that nagging corner of the basement and found these earrings. When I got my Master’s degree, my dad took me to a local Arts Festival to get a piece of jewelry to commemorate the occasion, since he knew how much I love handcrafted jewelry. I ended up finding this lovely silver ring with an adorable, tiny snail carved into it. The lady who made it said that it was inspired by her niece’s love of snails. I completely treasure this ring, because of the story behind it and the adventure my dad and I had in finding it!

my favourite piece of jewelry is a pair of pearl earrings that my sister and I received from my parents. It is special to me because my family decided to take a trip to Disneyworld and there was this stand that you could crack open oysters and find a pearl inside. We had so much fun trying to guess how big or what colour each pearl would be. It was so exciting and unbelievable at the same time, that something so simple and beautiful could come from something that you would not necessarily look twice at. Life Lesson, indeed. I don’t think I own a piece of jewelry that doesn’t have some significance. . For 37 years my wedding ring has circled my heart. The Michael Michaud silver pea, with four pearls, one for each of my children, was their gift to me on Mother’s Day. My father’s “add a diamond necklace” given to each of his 5 daughters and wife keeps his memory alive. Silver and malachite ring and bracelet, bought in Mexico on a last minute week in the sun with girlfriends makes me smile. When I wear mine, I feel wrapped in love or memories

I hate to be predictable, but have to say my wedding ring from my husband. I literally look at it at least once a day and it reminds me of how far we’ve come. It’s not the biggest or fanciest, but 9 years ago when he proposed I know how much he must have scraped and save to even buy me a ring. It’s what it represents, a promise of love and being there for each other forever. And with two very active boys, there’s no way we can do it without one another!

I love jewellery, but do not wear many pieces. One piece I have not taken off since Christmas ’09 is a set of plastic beads on nylon string that say “Mum love Bill xx”. Everytime I look at them I see my then 6 year old threading them, trying to hide them from me, with that tongue-sticking-out-intense-concentration that young boys get. Bill died a week after Christmas, and I can’t imagine I’ll ever take this off. Maudlin, I know, but every memory is precious. My favorite piece of jewelry is my great grandmothers wedding band that was engraved with her and my great grandfathers name, and the date that they married. It is pure gold, and was so blessed to be given this irreplaceable family heirloom. It shows me how sentimental my Great Grandfather was and how much he admired his beautiful bride.

my favorite piece of jewelry is a ring that my mother gave me for christmas this past year – it has three diamonds in it, from four generations of the family: one was given to me by my godmother at my christening, the next is from my grandmother’s engagement ring, which then became my mother’s engagement ring, and the last is from my great-grandmother from poland, it was one of the few things she brought when they immigrated to america.
my mom took all three diamonds to a little old italian man who has been hand making jewelry for over 50 years to set the three together, in an amazing setting he designed…it is so special to me!

My new favorite piece of jewelry (and I say new because I JUST got it) is my wedding band. My parents came up with a great idea of taking old gold jewelry from both of my late grandmothers, my parents (including my dad’s original wedding band) and my baby jewelry and having it melted down, purified to white gold and made into my both of our wedding bands. To top it off, when my fiance’s parents heard about it, they sent us their gold class rings, his father’s original wedding band and gold from his grandmothers to be added to our bands. My parents have been married for 44 years and my fiance’s have been married for 33 years, so we figure our wedding bands will bring us good luck!

I actually have 2 favorite pieces of jewelry that are the same. I wear two simple white gold bands on my right hand ring finger. The insides are engraved with each of my daughter’s names and birthdays. The intention is that I will give them their respective ring when they turn 18.

I am barely making it! I love my wedding ring. It’s flat and easy to wear everyday and it has a vintage quality. Plus, it’s a symbol of my life as a wife and mother.

I know it is not super original but my wedding band is my favorite piece of jewelry solely for what it symbolizes. It also doesn’t hurt that I know how hard my hubby tried (and succeeded)to give me exactly what I would love and want. Second favorite my pearl earrings he gave me on our wedding day…I have worn them almost every day since.

My favorite jewelry comes down to a tie between my husbands wedding ring that my grandmother gave him after grandpa passed on and the “something old” necklace she gave me. His band in gold with 3 Northstars etched into it. My necklace is a gold scroll with a white rose in the center and pearls scattered around the scroll work.

I have just a few pieces of jewelry, and each one with it’s own meaning. But one has a very special place in my heart because the way it was given to me. After years of financial issues, my husband got a job opportunity in USA, and our life has changed. It was almost a miracle. On the night before my first birthday living here, I went to bed and he was already sleeping. On my pillow was the box, and the notebook opened on a social media page, on my profile, where he left a lot of lovely words and poems about how much he loves me… it was message after message….I was touched because he never did something like that, not even just for me. Opening his heart to the “world” was very emotional. And now, every time I put on my little silver heart from Tiffany, I remember the overwhelming(happy)feeling of that night.

My favorite piece of jewelry is a seaglass necklace made from the most gorgeous turquoise piece of seaglass. I found the glass washed up on the beach in Barcelona, Spain, when I visited in 2007 and had it turned into a necklace upon my return to the states. Wearing it reminds me of my travels and keeps me in touch with my adventurous spirit!

MY favorite piece of jewelry (currently) is a silver ring I bought while in Morocco. I bought it in a tiny town from a little shop. I obviously like the way it looks, but it also reminds me of that time of my life. It definitely has sntimental value!

A tiny little lamb!! When I was first adopted at the age of 3 months a dear friend of my parents gave me a tiny little bracelet with a tiny little lamb on it…it’s my very favorite piece of jewlery. Over the years I’ve put it onto various chains. I’ve never seen anything like it ever, and being a knitter I really love it. But most of all it always reminds me that my birth mother is somewhere out there and is the most wonderful woman in the world for giving me life!! (Love you mom!)

When I found out I was having a baby girl I was delighted. I found a sterling silver “nest” ring on etsy that has three pearls in it, symbolizing our family of three. I had to have it! We decorated her nursery in a bird theme as well.

My pearl ring that my husband bought for me while on our honeymoon. It is extra special because I got to pick the oyster that the pearl was created in!! It is a humble beginning for a pearl: a small piece of sand or irritant that the oyster turns into a beautiful iridescent gem! Inspirational.

My favorite piece of jewelry that I own is a ring with my son’s names on tit. My husband bought it for me for Christmas a few years ago. There’s nothing like looking down on my finger and seeing my son’s names!!!!
