DIY Mother’s Day Door Hanger

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Here is a fun little gift to give to a favorite mom (yourself included). Everyone needs a little down time to decompress, so this Mother’s Day inspired door hanger is a pretty way of saying “go away”. All you need to do is download, print, cut and place in a #10 Envelope (I got these at our local Paper Source). Happy Mother’s Day!

Anthropologie Press Preview Invitation

I was doing a photo search at work yesterday and came across this fantastic invitation to Anthropologie’s Press Preview Invitation. I consider this a lucky find and it’s days like these that remind me of what a fantastic job I have. How many professions require you to browse photography and work of your peers for hours looking for inspiration and examples?!

But I digress, this invitation had me at Anthropologie! I am a huge fan, as I’m sure most of you are, and it’s the simplicity and uniqueness that makes them stand out again and again. This Invite by Dan Gneiding is no exception. I adore the clothing reference while still maintaing a formal invitation quality. Be sure to visit Dan’s site, Gray Hood, for more of his great design work.

Today is indeed a happy day! I discovered two new things; Design Mom has a sister AND her sister rocks! I came across Jordan Ferney’s blog, Oh Happy Day, while perusing Kirtsy. This charming birthday invitation caught my eye for obvious reasons and after further browsing of her blog I discovered that Jordan is a lady after my own heart. Oh Happy Day features fantastic DIY projects she’s written for Cookie Nesting Blog as well as general inspiration. If you haven’t already taken a peek I suggest you pop on over… like now! Happy browsing :)

Sponsor Thanks

I just wanted to take some time to say thanks for our May sponsor: Sakura Bloom. They make completely adorable baby slings and their support goes a long way in making Twig & Thistle possible.

Nesting Dolls

Monday, May 4th, 2009

I saw these nesting dolls from Handle & Sprout and immediately thought of Mother’s Day. You can get a nesting doll of just about anything, from birds to bears and, Obi-Wan Kenobi to Barack Obama, but these are in a class all their own. I really love how the metallic leaf gives the otherwise modern design a luxurious antique feel. So creative!
