Homemade Turtles!
April 16th, 2009
Here is a recipe I got from my (wonderful) neighbor for quick and easy turtles. I was a bit skeptical when I first saw them but after eating one I was hooked! Seriously, don’t knock em till you try em! These are perfect for an impromptu gathering or a nice treat when you’ve got a craving.
Ingredients:
Mini Pretzels
Pecan Halfs
Rolos
That’s it!

1) On a cookies sheet, arrange the pretzels then place a Rolo on top of each one. Bake at 220 F. for 2 minutes.
2) Remove from the oven and immediately start placing the Pecans on top and pushing them down, squishing the Rolos.
3) Enjoy!

These look amazing! Rolos are my #1 favorite candy. I’m definitely going to be baking these over the weekend. Thanks

My friend made these for me last summer! Aren’t they amazing! I agree with the skeptical part…then I proceeded to eat about 20!

My mother-in-law just introduced me to these at the holidays. They are so delicious (and easy)!

Ok, where have you been all my life? You were promptly added to my blogroll.
Can’t wait to try these for my daughter’s upcoming 1st birthday party. Also LOVE the fabric garland you made for your niece. I heart the fabrics you used sooo much. Another reason why I need to learn to sew…
xo

oh wow, yummy! what a great idea.

Love these! And if you want to vary them up, they are equally delicious with a couple of plain M&Ms or one peanut M&M smashed into the Rolo instead of a pecan.

Whooohooo! You’ve just made my day! These are a perfect quick bite for the BUNCO shindig I’m hosting tom morrow night!
Thank you!

They’re also really good with the caramel-filled Dove Promises if you want a creamier caramel.

i love your blog!
i have been making these for holiday gifts for the past couple of years. I put them in gift tins. They are delicious and addictive. They take more time than you think (unwrapping the rolos and squishing the pecans). Also it takes a lot of them to fill a tin. Regardless, they are a nice gift and everyone i give them to loves them.

I love sweet and salty! YUM!

I think I love you! You just combined three of my favorite things!

What a great idea. Normally, making turtles are a tad messy (and then they have to be refrigerated to keep them from being a goopy mess!) Thanks! Love these.

WOW! I can’t believe just that simple huh?

To be extra lazy, buy many rolls of rolos rather than the bulk bag of rolos. The rolls of rolos are not individually wrapped

Um, yes please!

Mmmmm! My favorite combo – pecans and caramel! Do you toast the pecans first or not bother?
April 16th, 2009 at 10:06 pm
Oh! Great idea to toast the pecans first! I didn’t do that but I imagine it would make them that much better. Good thinking!
