h That pretty much sums up how great these sticky note drawings from Marc Johns are. There seriously isn't a bad one in the bunch. "H" is definitly my favorite but I also have a special place in my heart for "Yes, you CAN have a cheesburger" "rothko" and "undies". Check out his website for more amazing drawings. pin

Design Mom Family Photos

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009
blairs11-710735 Leave it to Gabrielle of Design Mom to have the most gorgeous and charming family portrait photos that I have ever seen! As Gabrielle and her family prepare to move from New York to Colorado they decided to get portraits taken in Central Park. I knew you would all appreciate seeing these magazine worthy shots. Every detail from the clothes to the props down to the little cupcakes made me swoon! I adore the unexpected editorial quality that these photos taken by the talented Candice Stringham have. Congratulations to the Blairs on the AMAZING shots and best wishes to all of you during your move! blairs1a blairs2-721266

Louise Fili: Bedford Post

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009
bedfordpost_logo I've been a huge fan of designer / illustrator Louise Fili for years and I heard that she'd updated her site recently so I popped over for a visit. Louise constantly amazes me with her level of artistry. I adore her woodcut style of illustration and she seems to have such a profound understanding and skill for packaging. Her branding for the Bedford Post, a Restaurant and Inn in Bedford, New York, is no exception. In this particular logo the illustration was done by Mark Summers and the rest of the program has the exquisite design sensibility that Louise is so well known for. Have a peek for your self. bedfordpost_set The new site has a lovely set of updated images as well as a blog! Be sure to check them both out for some great design inspiration.

Oh, The Places You’ll Sew!

Monday, April 27th, 2009
Happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! The sun finally came out here in Seattle yesterday and it made for such a perfect weekend day! I have to say that the sun really made me look forward to summer which of course made me think of long weekend trips and vacations. Sadly I don't think my hubby and I will be taking any trips this summer but a girl can always dream... Which brings me to today's post; these stitching postcards from Uncommon Goods. stichpostcards The lovely Halli of Good Wifey sent me a link to these stitching postcards last week. This would be a great personal keepsake to remember the route of a favorite trip or share your adventures with friends. Love the simplicity of this idea and it's affordable too! Thanks Halli!

Faux-sposable Housewares Part II

Friday, April 24th, 2009
I'm taking a break from Lost in ffffound this week to share a few more items I found like the glass water bottles from earlier this week. These are some of my favorites: ceramic milk carton and paper bag vases, porcelain plastic cups, french fry bags, hot dog wrappers and lastly ceramic paper cups! They have such lovely design and an irreverence that's just too hard to resist! faux

Playstation Portable Groom’s Cake

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009
p10108211 Looking back on my sister's wedding reminded me of a detail of my own wedding that I really loved. I knew that my mother could bake but she took it to a whoe new level with the groom's cake for our rehearsal dinner. My mom decided to base it on my husband's love of video games ( don't worry ladies, I'm working on it) and the result was nothing short of outstanding. p10108651 Needless to say, my husband was completely blown away! Who wouldn't love a tiramisu Playstation Portable cake! Looking back at these photographs I still can't believe the amount of work, love and attention to detail that went into it. Thanks mom! xoxo p10108221

A Summer Wedding

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009
With summer approaching I thought it would be fun the share some details from my sister's 2006 wedding. My sister Allison and her husband Ryan found an outstanding outdoor location to host their celebration just outside of Bellingham, Washington. This beautiful natural environment surrounded by mountains created the perfect setting for their rustic northwest wedding. leckiewedding_1 I simply adored all the details that my sister incorporated into their event. She made dozens of pinwheels which were placed throughout the grounds. The tables were decorated with handmade paper bouquets and the table cloths were embellished with buttons! If that weren't enough, the favors were miniature mason jars filled with homemade strawberry jam. She topped these off with an assortment of fabric squares and custom made ribbon with their names and the wedding date. leckiewedding_2 Every aspect of their wedding had a personal touch and really made it a joy to to be a part of. Our parents made a full dinner for the 100+ guests. Two of their dear friends provided homemade beer, another grew the flowers and created each of the bouquets for the wedding party. Ryan's father took the wedding photos, another friend made their delicious cake and I designed the invitations and details. leckiewedding_3 This was a beautiful wedding that reflected Allison and Ryan's taste perfectly, I'm so glad I could be a part of their celebration!

Glass Beverage Bottles

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
glass-bottles I've seen images of similar bottles online and was completley smitten. I love it when someone can appropriate the language of something unappealing and wasteful and turn it into an object of beauty. With all the effort to be more socially responsible and care for the environment they seem like a cheeky way of doing your part. You can imagine my glee when I came across these small ones at Crate & Barrel for only $7.95! My husband and I now have them on our desks at work and a set in our guest room. Love!

Printed Silhouette

Monday, April 20th, 2009
cole_silhouette_3 I saw this project on Design Sponge months ago and knew that I wanted to try making one myself. I know this has been really popular lately and I apologize if it feels redundant but I just couldn't resist trying it out! My Nephew's 1st Birthday was Saturday so to celebrate I made this as a little gift. Cole's parents decorated his room with these adorable Robot Wall Decals by Blik. To fit in with their decorations I traced the decals in Illustrator and made the pattern and then Cole's silhouette. The great thing about this project is that you can make it as simple or complex as you like. For example; I would have liked to have cut the silhouette out of black paper and mount it to the pattern but I ran out of time. Instead I decided to simply print the entire thing. To make it feel more special I printed it on (my favorite) photo fabric and mounted it. I think it turned out well and hopefully made a gift his parents can enjoy. If you're not up for the challenge of making your own I recently spotted some stunning custom papercut silhouettes by Chirp! Studio on Jack and Izzy. Lovely, lovely work. cole_silhouette_2 cole_silhouette_1
