DIY Sweetie Pie!

Monday, February 9th, 2009

As promised, I have a a Valentine freebie project for you to make your special someone this week. These little hand pies can be made with your favorite Apple Pie recipe or simply with some store bought pie crust and apple pie filling. (I chose to go the easy route for the sake of time.) *Don’t have a favorite recipe? Try this Cranberry-Ribbon Apple Pie from Epicurious. The cranberries would be a lovely hit of red for the occasion! Just be sure to follow the baking directions that I included, as cooking time will be less with the smaller pies. Below are the instructions for these pies and a printable PDF for the boxes to put them in. Click “Continue reading…” for the instructions and template.

Sweetheart Animal Patch

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Have you ever thought to yourself; “OMG, I wish I’d thought of that!”? Well that’s exactly what I thought when I saw this lovely card! I was so smitten after one look that I had to share! This perfect little greeting by Chickabird contains a Sweetheart Animal Patch Kit that includes one iron-on animal, directions for ironing and sewing, a needle, and red embroidery floss. Seems utterly perfect for Valentine’s but this would be a lovely gift card year round.

This is one of many amazing products made by the oh-so-talented ladies at Chickabird. I first fell in love with their RandL canvas totes at the Urban Craft Uprising in December and have become huge fans of their blog as well. Be sure to check out what these two have going on, it’s sure to please!

DIY Valentine Pins

Friday, February 6th, 2009

I wanted to leave you this week with a lovely little Valentine project for the weekend ahead. Molly, over at the always charming Purl Bee, posted this simple tutorial on how to make Valentine Felt Pins. You can get the full template and directions along with more pictures here. These would be great attached to a card saying “Stuck on You!” or “I’m PIN Love with You!” Hahaha! Ok, maybe not the last one… Anyway, I can’t wait to get started on my own set. Happy weekend everyone!

It’s been a while since I’ve visited one of my favorite letterpress design sites of all time, Elum. Boy was I happy that I popped over for a visit! I have always fancied her yellow and grey Aviary Desk Set so you can imagine my glee when I discovered she’d added two more sets! The Boudoir and Wood Grain are equally as beautiful. Each box contains folding note cards, flat note cards, stationary sheets, gift enclosures and envelopes! What a fabulous gift this would make!
