Okay last question, I promise. What did you find to be a good size for your program?
I got my invitations over Christmas! I letterpressed the main invite and did everything else offset. Now, its on to the programs. Thanks Kathleen!

Hi Jessica,

The middle is just your standard wedding blurb: You are invited to celebrate the wedding of so & so... where, when. Dinner and dancing to follow. I just sourced a bunch of other invites to find wording that suited us but kept it really simple. Hope that helps and good luck! Making invites can be so difficult I know but so rewarding in the end! Congrats!

Kathleen,
Thank you so much for replying. I love that detail. So now the curiousity is killing me, what does the middle say? I'm (clearly) design an invitation similar to yours. I created my own little filigree. The top, middle part has me stumped.

Thanks,
Jessica

Hi Jessica,
Great questions! The cards with the yellow band around them are the RSVP card and the directions and hotel accommodation cards. These, with the return envelope, were bundled together with the yellow band and placed behind the invitation in the larger envelope. I printed the yellow bands on a digital laser printer to save ink and money. I was able to print these myself at my office since we have nice high-quality printers but a UPS store or a Kinko's should be able to print them just as well.

The top area of the invite lists my first and middle name on the left and my husbands first and middle name on the right. I just thought it was a fun little detail to have our full names and it balanced out the look of the invite. It's still one of my favorite details of the suite :) Best of luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

Gorgeous! Would you might telling me what the card is at the top with the yellow paper around it? Also, how did you print so much yellow without going through a million cartridges? I'm trying to do some of this myself and would really appreciate the help.
Also what does the top area of your invitation say near the filigree (i understand if you don't want to be specific if it is private, of course)?

Gorgeously coordinated and meticulous details! Love it!

I am obsessed with your invitations!

I am not anywhere close to creative but would love to create custom invitations like yours. Could you tell me the process please, please, please?

I know you mentioned istockphoto.com. But I don't even know where to begin when I looked at this site.

Did doing it yourself cut your cost dramatically?

Thanks!

Hi Karen, Thank you so much for your kind words about our stationary. I actually designed both the filigree and pattern myself in Illustrator. There are many great resources available for this type of thing. iStock Photo (http://istockphoto.com) has tons of vector art that you can download at an affordable price. And there are many books that have patterns and the like that you can scan in and use. Good luck!

Since yellow + grey has long been one of my favourite colour matches, I've been dreaming about your lovely wedding stationery since I saw it. You do such beautiful design! And the yellow you chose is wonderful. Where do you source your illustrations and patterns (i.e. the scroll-y thing and the criss-cross-y pattern)?

absolutely gorgeous wedding stationery suite and all the extras were divine! i'm in love with letterpress. there's nothing quite the same. like laurel and yourself, i felt the pressure but excitement and joy in designing my own wedding invitations which i also had letterpress printed. it was definitely worth it in the end. congratulations on your wedding and thanks for sharing your very special day and all the wonderful details. :)

We ended up using the standard "Forever" stamp with the bell on it. It went well with our invitations but I would have loved to have found stamps like you mentioned. This is such a lovely idea and I wish I'd known about your site then! Thanks for the lovely thoughts and comments. Kathleen

These are so incredibly beautiful! And I agree with Teresia, I'm in love with letterpress, but in Australia there aren't many printers that do it. Maybe I should look into getting something sent from the states...

What beautiful stationery! I particularly love your color palate, as you mentioned earlier, it is cheerful without being too feminine. And the design itself is unique without being complicated. I am curious what kind of postage you used for mailing? It is my own specialty to consult upon and then collect vintage (unused and therefor mailable) postage to further personalize the most cherished stationery projects. For you, I might have started with a combination of yellow hued florals. Kind of like a bouquet for your envelope!
